Last day at Hershey & Time to go home

Image
Yesterday was FILLED with walking and adventures in the park!  We went to the water park and because it was so quiet, we raced down the water  slides over and over!   We also went down the lazy river and the wave pool!  In between rides and rest, we filled up candy bags and bought all the souvenirs! The lazy river had these neat tubes, they were like lounge chairs! So fun!  The kids did all their favorite rides and we even found some we've never been on (there's probably Reason why). we shut down the park and even saw the sunset from the kissing tower!  Today is the day we make the 5 hour drive back home!!! For mom and dad it means we have to go back to work and for the kids it means camp!  It was a great two weeks adventuring down and up the east coast! We met some new friends along the way and had some really great experiences (fireworks on the beach to name one! ). Disney,  Myrtle...

Hershey Park day 2!

Image
I'd be lying if I said I had gone l tons of energy!! We spend the mornings in the pool and ALL day at Hershey Park! The kids are pumped each day we get the entire pool to ourselves! (We're not selfish, I promise! ) we got to the park and enjoyed ride after ride! It was a humid day so it felt like we were moving allow but thank goodness for the drink fountains that let you fill ice and water so we used our reusable cups and kept refilling!  We went on some different rides today and I almost lost my glasses TWICE on a wooden (almost retired) roller coaster! That would have stunk a bit.  When we went back to the park a after a short rest / dinner,  it was nice and quiet! We got on ride after ride!  We also had another giant donut thankfully we cut it into 4 pieces and share,  but it's so big! The kids get a kick out of treats like this!! Tomorrow we are determined to get a funnel cake!  After this wee...

Hershey Park!!

First thing we checked off the list this morning was pool time!!! We were the only ones in the pool so that made for a relaxing morning!  We went to Hershey Park! They used to open early, but they don't open until 11 now!  Geez! They're so tall now!! It's the polar opposite from Disney, it's not chaotic to get into the entry gates!  (And bonus,  it smells like chocolate). Character meet and greets are back! Woohoo! Emily wanted to go on a new roller coaster,  I can deal with most roller coasters, but this one had me closing my eyes a bit! (Emily has no fear whatsoever)  With these theme parks,  we've asked the kids to tell us what they want for lunch so we don't waste a bunch of money getting food they won't eat.  I present to you, lunch in the shape of an oversized donut!! We picked up some cotton candy in the way out and then washed it down with hot chocolate (perfect combin...

Hello PA!

Image
This morning we enjoyed a breakfast at the hotel and then hit the road to D.C.!  We rented scooters to travel easier around and sightsee. We started at the Lincoln memorial! The kids were very prepared to march up those stairs!  I'm always in awe of these!! The kids love counting the stairs and reading the walls.   How about the monument!  It was actually open today but the security guards said that people have been waiting since 6am to get into the monument!! We got to go into one of the Smithsonian museums!  (They were closed last year due to covid).  We saw some great displays!! It was great to experience this!  The WW2 memorial always has us in awe!! It's so moving, yet so peaceful.  The kids ask questions,  especially when reading the gold star memorial. They know about it from a basic point of view but they'll understand someday.  Of course we found Massac...

D.C. bound!

We had to take one more walk in the beach this morning!  Since Emily found her shark tooth, Jeffrey was determined to find one.   We weren't able to find one but we found some really cool shells overall.  Some of which we've never seen before. I'm pretty sure I have shells in every corner of my bag,  hopefully all were empty (I've made the mistake of holding onto shells that had creatures still in them before...yuck!) What a beautiful scene to say goodbye to.   we ate breakfast,  did all the things on our airbnb list of closing up the condo and headed out.  My poor little mermaid Emily wanted to go swimming in the warm ocean one more time but we wanted ty hit the road. She's still pretty proud of her shark tooth, but I think she wanted to find one for Jeffrey.  I definitely didn't miss the traffic-y states!! I think people in the southern states take it easy,  everyone else has places to go and pe...

Beach-ish day!

Image
We went to the beach day this morning but we knew there were some storms coming in, so we wanted to get some time on before then!  we got some killer boogie boards time in! The waves were so good to us and the water was warm!! When the clouds rolled in and we started to see lightning,  we left fairly quick (we didn't realize it was the remnants of a tropical storm).  We got some lunch,  found a gift shop and then got stuck in torrential downpours!  Yes, the entry of the gift shop is a brisk walk into the mouth of a shark! After the storm,  we took a walk on the beach to see if the storm dragged anything onto the beach!  Emily found a sharks tooth! Jeffrey found some really unique shells! Including the remnants of a conch shell!! How cool!  Finally,  we stayed awake long enough to walk on to the beach to enjoy fireworks!  I'm pretty sure everyone in SC wer...

Next stop: Myrtle Beach!

Image
We left early this morning to get a start on the road to head to our next destination!  Myrtle Beach bound!! We made it through Georgia painlessly!!!  the kids were excited to use their tablets again, so they could play  mine craft and listen to Disney music! They look cramped but they have tons of room (they have a bag of toys and crafts in between them! ) I used Google lens because we kept seeing these fields of leaves and I guess they were beet farms!! I did search for Dwight Shrute!! 🤣🤣 Of course we had to check out the pool, but only was it heated .. but it has an entrance to get outside from the indoor part, the kids thought it was the coolest thing ever (I did too!)  and finally,  this is the view from our condo!!! we will all sleep well tonight!!!
